Why Don't You Marry Him?
I have a piece in Wednesday’s Chicago Tribune about the Chicago Emmy Awards. It can be found on a panel a little bit farther down this home page. I am somewhat constrained space-wise by the Tribune, but I also wanted to mention in the piece, that either you or your employer has to nominate you. There is not some nominating God who swoops down and picks all of the best entries from the myriad of confusing and somewhat redundant categories, so it's somewhat self-serving. That said, I’m still happy that Pat, Mike and I are nominated however, and by whomever that came to be. Matt still seems like his work involving the nudity of MrSkin.com has the most potential for being fun on any given day. I hope that you enjoy the article. I even hearken back to the time when Garry Meier and I won an Emmy for ‘Greetings From Graceland’. There are a clips on YouTube, but one day, I’d like to put it out on DVD.
Janet greeted me with a rambling Garrison Keillor piece when I came downstairs today, and told me it was a must read. I assume that it’s her way of telling me that I need to be a better writer. She says it’s not, but that’s how she operates. Point taken, I guess. I thought it was kind of lame, and seemed like something a girl would write, but hey, that’s just me. We had a bit of a contretemps about it. As I get older, I find that I am less likely to share the really personal stuff. I might have possibly taken it the wrong way since I had just weighed myself for the first time in two weeks, and I was not exactly overjoyed with the results. I have been eating candy and baked goods non-stop for the last two weeks and I deserved to have my hopes of maintaining my weight crushed. I have been working out an hour a day and rewarding myself thusly. I might try a different approach to that: Like eating less and working out in a way that causes me to want to reward myself as little bit less.

Steve, I still remember when
Steve, I still remember when you made the Pepsi salad on Greetings From Graceland...I don't think I've ever laughed that much at something. I was pretty young when that aired (born in 1973) but that still sticks with me....I hope you can get that on DVD someday!!! Glad to hear your voice again!! I download the DahlCast every day and it's really made me realize how much I missed your take on current events. The balloon boy stuff was awesome!!!! Been listening since I was in 5th grade...hope to be listening for many more years!
Stever, I couldn't agree with
Stever, I couldn't agree with you more about Keilor: He writes like a dispeptic old woman. The world would be better off if his "hometown" was real and he was imaginary. Janet is W-R-O-N-G on this one.
Also, I just want to say thanks for the dahlcasts. I never, ever miss one. Hell, I even listened to the "tests". I don't think you've ever sounded better, and I mean that as an enormous compliment. Keep up the great work!
He writes for his audiance -
He writes for his audiance - 60 year old, pie-baking Lutheran women. The next time Janet throws a Garrison at you, tell her to get you a Danish foreign exchange student -it'll help set the mood.

Ugh -- Janet needs to start
Ugh -- Janet needs to start reading more varied opinion writers! Don't get Keilor, his radio show or why anyone thinks it's clever -- always feel he thinks he's smarter than the average person and has a smugness under his midwest/Minnesota persona . Somehow his articles always move into liberal vs conservative and of course, he's always right (actually left)!
