While The Cat's Away... The Mice Eat Popcorn
![]()
Janet has been out town for exactly three hours and I’ve already finished off a tin of Garrett’s popcorn and a tin of Beef Burgundy (named after Ron Burgundy). Janet is having a sisters weekend in New Buffalo and I am home dog sitting and DahlCasting. The Garrett’s was their “mix” of caramel corn and cheese corn. I am a recent convert to the mix. In past years I have never wanted to intermingle the two varieties of flavored popcorn, but now I can’t seem to get enough of it. There was a lot of butter or some other congealed fat at the bottom of the tin, and I’m guessing that’s why I love it so much.
The Beef Burgundy is from the local butcher shop/gourmet market and I love it because it reminds me of the Beef Stroganoff that my mother used to make. That was my favorite dish of hers and the Beef Burgundy provides me suitable comfort in that sense. It has also served to make me feel fat and bloated. No wonder I was always in a bad mood when I was a kid. I am not having a brothers weekend, but I did talk to my brother today and he seems to be doing well after his recent stomach surgery. We Dahl’s are very attached to our stomachs, and I’m sure I wouldn’t want anything like that to happen to mine.
I watched ‘FlashForward’ on ABC on Thursday night and I have to say that not only do I enjoy the show, but I also like the new “hot lesbian” storyline that they’ve got cooking. Isn’t it funny: The only difference between liking and licking is one little letter? I just took out the garbage and all of the recyclables (how green of me) and now I’m going to adjourn to the bedroom and watch some NBC comedies with the dogs until we all pass out. My money is on the dogs, since they seem to sleep 20 hours a day. Why are dogs always so tired? I mean they don’t ever really do anything. At least my dogs don’t.
